White Sulphur Springs is a peaceful mountain retreat that will feature 92 tree-covered hillside homesites, abundant recreational amenities, and preserved open green space bordering the Ararat River. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the community offers beauty and seclusion, yet is easily accessible, located three miles from downtown Mount Airy and eight miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The 145-acre site is steeped in history as the home of the former White Sulphur Springs Hotel, a turn-of-the-century famous resort that attracted visitors from all over the East Coast. White Sulphur Springs was renowned for the supposed medicinal powers of the spring water from which the resort claimed its name in the late 1800's.

The quaint charm of Mount Airy, the birthplace of Andy Griffith and the town which inspired his TV show “Mayberry," is often described as one of America’s favorite small towns and offers the best of both city and country living. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy riding down the breathtaking Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking at several state parks, or canoeing on the Yadkin River. Bluegrass and traditional music lovers can take in a jam session or live radio show every Saturday morning in downtown Mount Airy. History buffs can delve in to the area’s colorful past at the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History and by visiting the county’s myriad of historic sites. And wine connoisseurs can learn more about their passion at one of the many Yadkin Valley wineries close by.
